UNDOING THE BODY

Undoing the Body marks a return to printmaking in my practice to investigate how we see and interpret familiar images on an intimate scale. Using classical statues—icons that have profoundly shaped European ideals of beauty—as “screens,” I overlay close-up photographs of aged skin. This pairing confronts the tension between an iconic, idealized form and an intimate, individual reality. By framing these images on classical forms, Undoing the Body questions our collective notions of beauty, desire, and disgust, showing how aging is not just a biological process but a cultural construction.

In 2022 and 2024, a series of photogravures were created at Two Cents Press with printmaker Franco Marinai, continuing since 2023 at the Druckwerkstatt of Kulturwerk, BBK Berlin, with Regina Ziegeler.
